MdspCompressor

A simple and effective compressor with classic controls auto gain compensation and preamp to overdrive it.

downloads:
MdspCompressor VST win32 (with GUI) new
MdspCompressor VST macosx (with GUI) new
Compressor AudioUnit macosx (no GUI)
there's a side-chain version for vst win32 too here with 3 inlets, the third one being the side-chain. Not all host will accept to load it because of this. However any decent modular host should do the job, and I think it's also possible in more classical hosts using routing to effect capacities.

I guess I'm one of the first to download Mdsp Compressor. Nice and simple.
But... can somebody explain to me what the DRIVE knob does? I can't figure it out.
no you're not the first :)
say you have set the compressor attack time to 10 ms, and there is a loud hit, you'll have a transient that will pass through the compressor before the gain compensation starts working.
in this case the drive will apply a soft saturation on this transient but not on the compressed part.
is that clear?
Thanks for the quick response.
Forgive the dumbie question, but when you say "will apply a soft saturation" does that mean that the dynamic level of the transient is reduced, limited, or whatever, or does it mean that some kind of artistic, tube-like distortion is applied?
I assume that whatever the answer is, the Drive control adjusts how much the transient is processed, right?
Hi again...
I'm still waiting for an answer to my last question.
And still enjoying using the compressor too :o)
it's just a soft waveshaping curve applied to the transient
Any chance we will see a universal binary recompilled version?
I've been looking for a freeware sidechain compressor plugin for OSX for ages. Is this an answer for my praying?
stoned.com thanks you for the SC vst...
Waiting for the side chain!!!! :)
