I'm working on the next version of livecut. It will have a brand new interface and the most important, it will have a timeline display of what's actually happening inside the beast.

I think I've found one reason that could explain why presets are not recalled correctly in the current version of Fire and Livecut.

There's a very silly bug in program export but not in bank export.

It produces something like that:

[preset]name="your preset name here"

instead of:
[preset]
name="your preset name here"

you can download the new version from theirs respective page, I've kept the same download name.

AudioUnit users, If you have some aupresets made with the previous Livecut 0.9 version, the better is to delete them from your preset folder.

From the tests I've made so far, preset/banks load/save correctly on PC and Mac, VST and AU. And saving/restoring with the host song too.

I've finally found the bug that made the AudioUnit version of Livecut and Fire crash on MacIntel.

I'll make a release as soon as I have some extra time to compile, test, package and upload these to the web site.

hi,

I've entered the kvr developer challenge my entry is called Fire.
And I winned the 3rd place.

It's a sort of multitap delay with panning and controllable morphing between settings.
Instead of controlling each echo separately, there's a bunch of parametrized functions that you can use to generate various kinds of effects from weird reverb to bouncing delays to sonic textures.

Finally there is an update for AnalogDelay which is now donationware.
It's still free and fully functionnal, but there is a nag screen on the GUI.
if you make a donation for it I'll send you a version without the nag screen.

now every parameter is properly recalled when opening the GUI
knob mode is relative linear (no more annoyings jumps when editing the GUI)
sync button changes now properly updates the other value display and knob positions
changing the max delay now doesn't changes the delay unless the delay is higher than max delay
midi notes input no more changes the parameters

This is a commandline program that lets you decompose a sound into additive components in the spectral domain.

what it does is:
1) generate the sound's spectrogram
2) decompose the spectrogram into N layers
3) resynthesize each layer and the residual to a separate soundfile

usage:
nmfdemix [-m] [-s] [-o long] [-c double] [-i long] [-f long] [--] [-v] [-h] filename #components

where:
-o , --overlap overlap factor (default 4)
-c , --criteria stopping criteria (default 0.001)
-i , --maxiterations max number of iterations (default 1000)
-f , --fftsize fftsize (default 4096)
-m, --matrixout output W and H matrices
-s, --silent don't be verbose

warning:
this tool takes some time to converge to a good solution and can be very heavy on CPU.
I only have tested it with files containing a few bars and less than 10 components/layers.

Livecut is based on BBCut the BreakBeat Cutting library written by Nick Collins for SuperCollider

The BBCut Library began out of work on an algorithm to simulate the automatic cutting of breakbeats in the style of early jungle or drum and bass Nick Collins.

Livecut is only a small subset of what is possible with BBCut, but as it is available as a VST plugin, it is much easier to start experimenting with it.

It is a live beat-slicer but instead of manipulating equal chunks of audio like most beatslicer do, it works on the notion of audio cuts whose length and number of repetition depends on the context and the cutting procedure. cuts are organized in blocks which then form a phrase. see Image below. And each phrase can be ended by a roll or fill.

I've found the time to go further with my scanned synthesis algorithm, and it now work as a VSTi with it's OpenGL animation on the GUI and some sliders to tweak the string thanks to Niall Moody's VSTGL and MultiGUI classes.

I've started making 2 VST plugins dedicated to breakbeat Cutting inspired by Nick Collins library for SuperCollider called BBCut.
thus the name BBCut for the instrument and LiveCut for the effect.
I have finally something roughly working and here is a demo.
